Loyola’s primary editorial vehicle, Loyola magazine was produced 2-3 times annually. I worked closely with the managing editor to determine content strategy and editiorial style for each issue. I supervised an art director who had day-to-day responsibility over several years.
I designed the current format including, production specifications, typography, grid, overall visual style for photography and illustration, section structure, and masthead. In all I oversaw creative on 31 issues over the past 15 years and designed three recent issues.
I led an initiative to cut circulation saving production and mailing costs to unresponsive alumni. In conjunction with this change a new magazine website was launched to tell Loyola’s stories on a more regular basis. The change is supported by its robust social media presence with far greater reach than any one print issue.
